Fun & practical
This is about the most fun an old man can buy for $30. It has so many rivals it was difficult to choose, but now in my possession, I know it is the right one. It has everything I can think of for what it represents. I can’t rate battery life because I don’t plan to use batteries; it is too much fun cranking power into the integrated battery, and I may never have it on long enough to run it down. The radio is so tiny it will set just about anywhere you want it, ready to be grabbed and carried into the closet during tornado warnings. Oh, and all the many functions really work.

Not Bad but also Not Great
Bought this after enduring hurricane Ian last year without a radio and electricity for weeks. The hand cranked unit we had didn’t work when needed so I decided to replace it with one that I could always power up with batteries. This seems like a good option with a rechargeable battery, solar, crank, and AAA cells. Hope I don’t need to use it but feel confident that it will work if needed. So these are my impressions: the reading light at the top is fairly good, giving enough light to read in the dark and likewise the flashlight is slightly better than expected but a far cry from powerful. I haven’t tried recharging anything from the side ports but expect they will work albeit slowly. The radio is not digital so tuning can be a bit tricky and the sound quality is what you would expect from a small cheap speaker. The weather radio worked and the antenna improved reception noticeably. All in all not Great but not bad either. It is what it was meant to be, an inexpensive device that does a lot of things but none of them particularly well. Get what you pay for. It’s not something I’d want to use every day but in an emergency it will do.

Works, but not the quality I had expected
When an alert is instigated by the weather service this radio often comes on off station. Producing a lot of static and needs to be re-tuned to the station. I have attributed this to our extremely rural area. It might work well in an urban area, but I cannot recommend for country area.

Great Emergency Radio/Light
This radio is so versatile. I purchased one for Hurricane Harvey, and I loved the features so much I bought one for my friend in Florida and had it delivered before Milton hit. If you are looking for a great practical gift, I suggest this radio.

A little more peace of mind
This purchase is something I had been wanted for awhile and I’m glad I finally purchased. It gives you a little bit more peace of mind. It works well and the siren is very loud. I accidentally set it off and it scared everyone in the house including the dog.

Useful and Peace of Mind
We purchased this when we moved to Florida for weather emergencies. We did use it during the last hurricane and it was consistently alerting us to tornado warnings and other weather related warnings. I felt better having this. I would recommend.

Great little multipurpose radio
I take this with me on my hikes. AM/FM/WB radio. Can be used to charge your phone. One can rely on the rechargeable battery, regular batteries, and utilize solar or manual crank charging. The flashlight has proven helpful a few times as dusk descended, and I like knowing that I could fire up the loud alarm if I got hurt.

Not What You Expect
I finally received this radio, only to find it was the size of a bed clock. The size of the picture online is misleading. It does work, but it’s a big letdown if you were expecting something bigger.

Most clutch radio ever!
I bought this radio for Burning Man this year thinking I would only need to use it infrequently to hear the estimated wait times to leave the event. Low and behold it dumped 3 years worth of rain in 12 hours and this baby came to save the entire trip!I charged it fully before the trip and after it started raining we had this radio on – non stop – for 4 straight days. The battery life didn’t even wince, it’s still green after I checked it 2 days later. I also had the AAAs in for backup, and I cannot speak to the solar or crank charging, but this was plenty. If you’re looking for a solid safety radio, you cannot go wrong. I have never written a review before and this thing is so kick ass I just HAD to! You can’t go wrong with this purchase, BUY IT!

Better than expected
I didn’t expect to love this little thing so much. Purchased for a family member hitting the Appalachian trail this summer. They’ll have NOAA, am fm & shortwave. The alarm is pretty loud, and I love that you can charge your phone on it! Reading light and flashlight – always great to have extra light options, and a solar panel or hand crank charge. You can also put triple A batteries in it and run it off that or just charge the battery it comes with by cranking it. We loved it so much we bought a second one for our workshop / garage.

Multiple power sources
Chose this radio because it was about the only one that had a rechargeable battery as well as battery capability. In a prolonged electrical outage there may not be an ability to recharge using solar and cranking the handle will get tiring so having a supply of batteries as a backup gives one more option that is appealing. The lights are very bright on the highest setting but there is also a dimmer setting. The warning siren is very loud. This LITTLE radio seems to have it all.

Always on alert
There may be dire times ahead so having a detailed weather radio, battery operated, is something I’ve deemed better to have than not.It works well, distributing viable wx info which may not be available with a loss of power in a national or local emergency. It’s comforting to have.

Package arrived in timely manner. when removed from package the box with radio enclosed was very dirty with dust and slivers if hair. However, on opening all was clean inside. Everything seems to be working. Please note I’ve only had this radio for a couple of days. We’ll see how well it works and holds up in the future.

Great all around
Been wanting something like this for a while. Thought the price was good. Arrived with no charge so I charged it by cranking the handle for a couple minutes and played the radio for about 15 minutes before I turned it off.Radio picks up very well. I live in a rural area pretty far from most radio stations and it picked up the majority of them as good or better than my car. The radio dial is slightly inaccurate but you can still tell about what station you’re listening too.Solar charger works as well. Set it in the sun and it continually charged fine.I like that you can also switch between the rechargeable battery and regular AAA as well. You can charge your phone with 2 USB ports on the side.Weather radio picks up well also.Flashlight is bright as well. All around great radio, great addition to a bugout bag, for camping, or anything.

A balance of quality for price.
You need a Shortwave or a weather radio because stuff happens, you’re a prepper, or current events make you think over if you have everything in case the worst case happens. I am at this point, and i honestly didnt want to shell out 150 bucks for something all digital with fancy cases for a handful of uses. So After looking over different models I settled on this radio. It was 50 bucks, ,it had USB charging features, it had a Li-ion battery you can crank charge or usb charge from a power bank or plug adapter. Plus, it has a battery slot to run it off of (not included) 3 AAA batteries (not AA). Then once I recieved it, the thing had a few more cool things that come in handy…Solar strip for a charge, LED light bar (dimmable) if i needed light to do something like first aid or read a map…THEN it has a flashlight (dimmable), a red distress/panic beacon (it is a loud noise when you press the red button so ppl will hear it) and a nice little clip to attach to a bug out bag or molle slot. So im impressed. So the cons. there are a few. The compass is functional but probably wouldnt be my first choice to use. Get a dedicated hand compass…this seems kinda sketchy and off a tad. The buttons do have a slight wiggle but its not like they are going to fall off, just be careful not to crank on them and you should be good. Slight star dock for those few issues. The Pros. The radio is functional on all channels. Shortwave I was picking up Italian? Weather stations work crystal clear. AM comes in and FM is surprisingly clear and loud. This little speaker does the trick. definately worth 50 odd dollars to have all these features and I will for sure come back to update with any further things that pop up.

Great for power outages!
Living in Florida, we lose power and internet for days on end after a hurricane. This little radio became an essential part of my survival gear. I was able to get weather and other important information from our local news. Thanks to its small size and light weight, it stows away easily. It also seems tough enough to make a Go-Bag complete. Very easy to use.Glad to have it.

Wonderful!
This is not just a radio. It is also a flashlight reading light phone charger and a very loud alert! WARNING! IT IS RED AND SUPER LOUD! It works right out of the box without winding it and no batteries! I love that you have several charging options. So easy to use and reception is very clear. In Louisiana this is so necessary for us. Everyone needs this.

Great price but room for improvements
It works as advertised but it has hindrances. There’s a LOT of frequencies on the SW band, but this radio has no fast way to skip way ahead of where you are. It takes a long time to get to a frequency far away on the dial, even longer at night when the scan feature keeps stopping at everything, even signals of strong static. How about the longer I hold the “tune” button, the faster it goes through frequencies? So 1 second to enter scan mode, then for every additional 2 seconds I hold it, it skips ahead faster and faster. While that’d still be annoying, it won’t take an hour to get around the whole SW dial at night. While unplugging the USB or headphones, it’s too easy to hit one of the flashlight buttons. You might even hit the SOS button and the siren will wake everyone up. Also, the SOS button is a different color than the rest, which is nice, but it seems like since it’s already that much different, why not make it glow in the dark? Would it really be THAT much more expensive?I hoped the internal battery would’ve been easier to replace because eventually rechargeables don’t hold charges well. Since it’s an “emergency” radio, what if the emergency lasts for years and the internal battery doesn’t hold a charge like it used to so you’d like to replace it? My other emergency radios have replaceable rechargeables so I have backups for them.Instead of playing the last band and frequency when I turn it on, it flashes “WX”. I have to press “band” to start anything.I like the red flashing LED when I’m on weather alert mode, But I kind of wonder why it doesn’t forward. The strap is too good at covering the solar panel. You’re going to want to attach a better antenna for reasonable reception. With the buttons all in a row like that, I have to count as I feel my way across them to hit one I want at night when it’s dark and I can’t see it. This also requires being familiar with which button does what. The hand crank feels nice and solid, but it’s not so easy to see the charging light while cranking. The battery level indicator is great because it has 4 dots of charge and while you’re charging it, there’s a red LED that’ll turn green when it’s done. The backlight on the screen is also nice.I plan to return this for something with an accessible internal battery, and maybe a number pad or tuning dial that can go faster.

Perfect for Hurricanes, Tropical Storms, Tornadoes, or just listening during power outages
What is not to like.Excellent battery capacity, AM/FM/NOAA/NOAA Alerts/Shortwave. Small form factor. Solar Cells but not sure that they are significant due to small size, Crank for emergency power when needed. You can listen to radio broadcasts, weather alerts, and even recharge your phone during power outages.I cannot imagine being without one of these during a hurricane, tropical storm, in tornado weather conditions or even for earthquakes. Essentially any cataclysmic event … even war.It is lightweight and will sit securely on almost any surface. The best feature is that the buttons can be locked out easily to prevent accidental button pushes doing anything.Cons: no easy way to hook up an external antenna, especially for short wave.

Surprisingly good!
I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but this thing works great! My daughter borrowed mine during a lengthy power outage and loved it so much that I had to buy one for her. Everything works the way it should. The radio sound is a bit scratchy but tolerable. It charges cell phones rather quickly. I like the fact that it has battery, solar, and crank options. If you’re looking for an emergency tool and don’t have a lot of money to waste, you won’t go wrong with this one.

Excellent in Case of an Emergency
I purchased this radio as part of my emergency kit that I am organizing in case of an emergency such as an earthquake or fires. It has a lot of features that will be extremely helpful in case I have to abandon my home in an emergency. I really like it.
